Impacts of TIMSS and PISA on Mathematics Curriculum Reforms

International assessment studies generally contribute to curriculum reform by highlighting certain aspects of needing improvement, usually attained though the recognition and application some studies’ components. By focusing on question “How have international driven school mathematics reforms?”, this chapter examines role TIMSS (Trends in Mathematics Science Study) PISA (Programme for Student Assessment) reforms different countries. Emphasis is placed examining components applied (re)designing implementing improvements. After presenting global influences worldwide, these are examined case from four economically geographically diverse The ends with a critical summary findings presented outlines directions further research.
